Living Inside of Psalm 91

Do you read Psalm 91 and want to live in it?

That requires some self effort:

- Know and recall that the Lord does not fail with any of us.
- Rid yourself of unworthy and inappropriate suspicions concerning God's faithfulness, (lean not on your own understanding).
- Do battle with the World, the flesh and the devil from a position of victory, not failure.
- Earnestly remember; evil that doesn't serve Him is held back, (lean not on your own understanding).
- Give up any tone of distrust and despair, (lean not on your own understanding).

As Psalm 91 says:  "...on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I confidently trust!"

Scripture Merge

Last week, several events lined up, showing my 36 work-year experienced mind that significant loss is just around the corner - with no doubt.

That downward spiral of dark attitude started again. Then, a couple familiar scriptures merged together and gave me a heart-spoken dose of reality:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding - which is a bruised and broken reed.  A reed which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it."

Time to say goodbye to being self-destructive and trust in the Lord instead.

Dead Reckoning

"And the Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said to him, 'The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage.'"
Judges 6:12

The Lord does not fail with any of us.  So, let us be who the Lords says we are - who He made us to be.  Whatever your type, whatever your personality shape.  Whatever He says about you is true, just like what He said about Gideon above.

C.H. Mackintosh says:  "I take God at His word.  I reckon myself to be what He tells me I am.  I do not endeavor to work myself into a sinless state which is impossible.  Neither do I imagine myself to be in it, which is a delusion; but by a simple, childlike faith, I take the blessed ground which faith assigns me, in association with a dead and risen Christ.  I look at Christ, and see in Him, according to God's Word, the true expression of what I am, in the Divine Presence.  This makes all the difference."

Enemies List*

(1)  An attitude of distrust in the Lord's all sufficiency.

(2)  The ensuing onset of despair that attaches itself to the above.

(3)  Unworthy and inappropriate suspicions regarding God's faithfulness.

* That is, those enemies more narrowly defined under the the world, the flesh and the devil, (particularly the flesh).
